Lyrics:
I got my driver’s license years ago
But never bought an actual car
I use it for my identity
So that I can get into bars
Instead I take a train through the suburbs
Waiting to get off at my stop
And you’re probably on the highway
Which always made me doubt
That I’ll switch over to the other lane
Without ever crashing into the crowd
Yeah I take a train through the suburbs
Cause how could I ever trust myself?
And I know I’m not perfect but I’ve always felt this way ‘bout driving
And I just can’t imagine how I could be so okay if you’re gone
I don’t know how I got permission from the DMV
Cause they said I can drive, though I’d rather walk down the streets
And all my friends are tired
Of giving me a bunch of rides but
I kinda feel sorry for them
‘Cause they’re wasting time getting stuck in a jam
So I take a train through the suburbs
And read a book til I am home at last
And I know I’m not perfect but I’ve always felt this way ‘bout driving
And I just can’t imagine how I could be so okay if you’re gone
I don’t know how I got permission from the DMV
Cause they said I can drive, though I’d rather walk down the streets
Red lights, stop signs
I still see myself driving past them, that’s when
The police come chasin’, their crying sirens
They know I just broke the law
All the cats, I’ve ran
I can hear their last meows, their rotting bodies
Laid out on the roads
For the birds to eat through
All the flesh until it’s gone
And I know I’m not perfect but I’ve always felt this way ‘bout driving
And I just can’t imagine how I could be so okay if you’re gone
I don’t know how I got permission from the DMV
Cause they said I can drive, though I’d rather walk down the streets
Yeah, they said I can drive, though I’d rather walk down the streets
